Problem with registration and tutorial

Problem: Hi everyone!
I'm currently having two problems with the game. The first is that the tutorial isn't working correctly - I can use the sniff command, but cannot move the character or move the camera angle.
Once I actually got to the log in screen in the game I found that I cannot input any of the information. I click into the text boxes but it will not allow me to enter my details and the drop-down menus for putting in a birth date are completely blank. I've tried entering the details after accepting the terms, but it makes no difference.
I'm running on a completely fresh download from steam.
