And he was a gentle giant. He was made out of slabs of iron and various stones and gems; he was quite beautiful. The sun cast its bright light onto him, and the river that flowed from his eyes came alive with all the colors of the jewels that decorated his body. But alas, however pretty he was, the Iron Giant did not feel that way inside. For, you see, he was lonely, and wanted friends. But those he tried to talk to would run away in terror! For he was a giant, and giants are terrifying creatures.
