the peacock mantis shrimp is a marine animal which is just WEIRD and great at the same time
ok
this animal punches so fast with its claws it creates sparks of light and heat in the surrounding water. it doesn't have to hit to kill its prey. a just miss is a cooked meal. if it did hit, it can pretty much crack almost any shell open with few hits. these dudes are so dang MEAN they just punch things apart. and they're pretty angry at things in general.
whats even better is that their shells are so dang strong the military wants to research it to create combat armor.
also they have like sixteen color receptive cones in their eyes. we have three; red blue and green. dogs have two. butterflies have five. red, blue, green, and two whole colors we can't even comprehend.
now imagine thirteen unimaginable color spectrums. what a beast.
