Mostly I get there through trial and error. But think of it like a candy wrapper. The edges are where there is going to be a seam where the other end of the texture from the opposite side are going to meet!

This colored felis UV is by Zophrenia demonstrates what I mean:

the light blue edges will meet under the belly, the light pink on the face will make the chin, the orange on the legs, etc

I'm not sure I can give ya more than what's in this thread! If you have any specific questions I can answer them though!

Okay, I've got a few questions then.
How exactly do the glowing markings work?
How do these people make third eyes on their presets?
Also, I use SAI. I don't have a clue how to update it, But I want all those fancy brushes that come with the new version. I tried downloading them, but it didn't work whatsoever and I'm confused.

Glowing markings are made by making a separate, completely black texture, but whatever you want to glow is the only thing that will be colored. This is called an emission map.

Example, using Izanami by Seyll :

From what I remember, you can save with the other image formats when you go through "File > Export"!
